Listening comprehension with Edpuzzle + my reflection

Here's the link to my Listening activity video on Edpuzzle

I chose this video for my students at 4º ESO because we are doing a project on Women and Girls in Science to celebrate and commemorate the 11th of February. The video deals with the topic of women in space and contains easy to understand language, but it is challenging due to the speed of the audio and the amount of informationit gives.

The learning objectives are to acquire listening skills present in the evaluation criteria for 4ºESO, raise awareness on equality and the role of women in multiple fields of knowledge and also improve students ICT skills. Students in class are explained that they will have to watch a video at home and answer some questions related to it using Edpuzzle (flipped classroom).

Pre-task:  Top-down activity in which students are introduced to the topic of women in science. They are told that today we will deal with the topic of space. They will brainstorm vocabulary related to space, the space race and nationalities.

Task: Students will watch the video attached above at home and will answer the questions.

Post-task: Students will be informed of their learning outcomes. Later on, we will watch and listen 3 times to a clip from the movie Hidden Figures, and answer some bottom-up questions (fill-in the gaps)

I flipped my class and most students carried out the activities.
They enjoyed the experience overall, I've flipped some classes before and it's generally effective, above all because it promotes individual learning, they can play the video as many times as they want and they are listening to real-life material on a topic they are interested in.

Some students didn't do the task at home so maybe remind them to do so and do more flipped classes so that they acquire more responsibility to blend their written homework and their ICT homework.
